Kerala University is a state university of Kerala which was established in 1937 by Maharajah of Travancore Sri Chithira Thirual Balarama Varma who was the first chancellor of the University. The University of Kerala is situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala and approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). Kerala University accredited ‘Grade A’ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has 41 departments of research and teaching with 16 faculties.

The University of Kerala provides admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and programs in different disciplines. The University of Kerala also provides various UG and PG  courses via the school of distance education for more than 7,000 students from the overall country. Kerala University UG Courses Admission

The University of Kerala provides B.Tech and B.Arch courses in different streams and also provides admission in B.Sc, BA, BCA, B.Com, B.Ed, B.P.Ed, BPA, BFA, LL.B & BMS courses in various disciplines. Candidates have to meet some eligibility criteria to get admission in these UG courses.

Eligibility:

• To get admission in Btech, candidates should have passed their 12th with aggregate 50% marks from a recognized board and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology should be mandatory subjects. Candidate should also have to obtain a valid rank in Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical and Pharmacy (KEAM) entrance exam which is conducted by CEE, Kerala.
• Students who seek admission in B.Arch must have their 12th with aggregate 50% marks from a recognized board and Mathematics should be an optional subject. A valid NATA scores also are required to get eligible for B.Arch admission.
• For admission in all other UG courses, Candidates must be completed their 10+2 from a recognized board.

Kerala University PG Courses Admission

Kerala University provides M. Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA and MCA courses in different streams and also provides admission in MA, M.Sc, M.Com, MVA, MPA, M.Ed, M.P.Ed, MSW and MCJ courses in various disciplines in full-time mode. Candidates have to meet some eligibility criteria to get admission in these PG courses. The University of Kerala also provides admission in MBA program in part-time and evening modes.

Eligibility

• To get admission in M.Tech, candidates should have a bachelor degree in B.Tech/B.E  in particular discipline with aggregate 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/ PWD and 53% for OBC) from a recognized university. Candidate should also have to obtain a valid rank in the GATE entrance exam.
• Students who seek admission in MBA must have a bachelor degree with aggregate 50% marks from a recognized university. A valid KMAT/CMAT/CAT scores also are required and have to appear in GD and PI rounds to get eligible for MBA  admission.
• For admission in all other Master’s courses, Candidates must have a bachelor degree with aggregate 50% marks from a recognized university. Students should also have to appear in the university-level entrance test and obtain a valid rank. Admission will be based on this rank and followed by an interview and evaluation of the relevant work experience.

Kerala University M.Phil. and Ph.D. Admission

The University of Kerala provides admission in full-time M.Phil. program to those students who have a Bachelor’s Degree in related field with aggregate 55% marks. Kerala University also provides admission in full-time Ph.D. research course. Those candidates who hold a Master’s degree (M.Phil.) in the related field with aggregate 55% marks are eligible to get admission in Ph.D. research course. Selection in Ph.D. research course will be based on these criteria:

• Candidates have to appear in the entrance test and Personal Interview which is conducted by the University of Kerala.
• For Ph.D. candidates should be UGC (NET)/ CSIR (JRF) qualified.
• Candidates who are SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holders can also apply for Ph.D. courses.
• Direct award of Fellowship by DST (INSPIRE), ICMR or any such national agency are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. admission.
• Those candidates who have qualified any Any other equivalent test are also eligible to apply for admission in Ph.D. course.

Kerala University Scholarships

The University of Kerala provides scholarships to all the students based on merit. Kerala University awarded 188 Merit Scholarships of INR 2,500 per annum to every student and 169 Merit Scholarships of INR 3,000 per annum to every student.

Kerala University also offers the scholarship to those students whose family income is less than Rs. 25,000 per annum which is known as Students Aid Fund Scholarship. Amount of Students Aid Fund Scholarship is Rs. 1000 for UG students and for Pg graduates students is Rs. 1500.

Candidates have to contact their department head or college principal to apply for this scholarship. For this scholarship, students have to submit the Income Certificate of the working parent which is granted by the village officer.

Student’s Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme [SGPAIS] will also be offered by Kerala University. In this scholarship, if any students met with an accident then their medical expenses up to Rs.25,000 are covered by this scholarship scheme and a death claim will get up to Rs. 1,00,000. Candidates have to pay a premium for this scholarship membership of Rs. 25 per student.
