The total number of vacancies released in the official notification on an official website is approximately 90 posts. However, the candidates belong to the reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, PwD) will have a relaxation from the government. According to the official notification, vacancies details are given below:-

IFS Application Form 2020

The candidates who are aspiring for the IFS should apply only the civil services. There is no separate IFS application form for the candidates. There are some several important points for the candidates before applying the application:-

  • The Candidates should have the qualification degree which is required for the Post.
  • Candidates should register for the Prelims exam and qualify in the test then eligible for Mains Exam.
  • The IFS mains exam will be conducted in the last week of November. However, the Prelims exam will be conducted in September 2020.

Eligibility Criteria For IFS 2020

Eligibility criteria are very important for the candidates. Applying the IFS 2020 form, candidates must have to know about the eligibility of IFS post. The details are given below:-

  1. Physical Criteria:- Candidates must be fit according to the standard of physical for admission to the Indian Forest Service examination. Candidates have checked the official website of UPSC IFS 2020 for the details of these exams. 
  2. Nationality:- A candidate must be
    • The Subject of Nepal.
    • Have Indian Citizenship.
    • The Subject of Bhutan.
    • Tibetan refugee who came to India for permanent settling before 1st January 1962.
    • Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam those country people who come to India for permanent settling before 1st January 2020.
    • Candidates belonging to reserved category are also eligible for this examination.
  3. Educational Qualification:- The candidate must be
    • Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Statistics and Zoology, Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Forestry or engineering a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects which are given from, and passed from a government recognized University.
    • Candidates who appearing or waiting for their degree are also eligible to fill the application form of IFS. They have to submit their proof of passing the examination.
  4. Age Limit:- Age of the Candidates should be Maximum of 32 years and a minimum of 21 years on 1st January 2020. It means the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1988 and not later than 1st August 1999. While the reserved category candidates have some age relaxation:-
    • SC/ ST:- Up to 5 Years.
    • OBC:- Up to 3 Years.
    • State of Jammu & Kashmir:- Up to 5 Years.
    • Defense Service Personnel:- Up to 5 Years.
    • ECOs/SSCOs:- Up to 5 Years.
    • Ex-Serviceman:- Up to 5 Years.
    • Orthopaedically handicapped person and Blind, Deaf-mute:- Up to 10 Years.
  5. Number of Attempts:- Following are the maximum number of Attempts restriction:-

Optional Subject of IFS 2020

The candidate who passed the Prelims exam will be called for the Mains exams, which will be 12 to 13 times the total number of vacancies for IFS. In this Mains Exam, there are required to select two optional subjects:-

Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science

Chemistry

Chemical Engineering

Civil Engineering

Forestry

Zoology

The combination of Optional Subjects will not be allowed in IFC Mains Exams are the following:-

  • Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering
  • Agriculture and Animal husbandry & Veterinary Science.
  • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
  • Agriculture and Forestry
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Agriculture Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering have not more than one subject.

How to Apply For IFS Exam 2020 

  1. Visit the official website of www.upsc.gov.in.
  2. Start filling the application form of IFC 2020.
  3. Click on the website and go to “What’s News”. 
  4. Then, move the UPSC Home Page.
  5. Click on Part I registration Link and then fill all the required details.
  6. Required to upload signature and Passport size Photo.
  7. After filling the form Pay the application fee of IFS.
  8. When you are done with the payment method then log in to the official website again and fill the bank related information.
  9. Before click to the submit recheck the application form and then click on submit. Then, do not forget to take a printout of application form for future references. 

IFS Admit Card 2020

The IFS admit card will release 3 weeks before the exam on the official website of UPSC. The candidate can get the admit card by downloading method, the link of admit card is shown on the official website of UPSC. After downloading the admit card candidate should take a printout of the admit card. Admit card is very necessary to bring into the examination hall. All details are described in the admit card like Your Name, Registration number, DOB, etc.
