Anna University is situated in TamilNadu state which is known as the largest technical university in this state. Anna University is separated into four different colleges or institutions which of them are situated in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Anna University provides various courses and programmes for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. Courses are provided in various disciplines such as Engineering, Science, Business & Management Studies, IT & Software, and Architecture & Planning. Anna university also provides admission for distance education courses who are not able to attend the classes regularly.
Students can apply online for all courses except for MBA, MCA, MS by Research and Ph.D. For these courses, candidates have to download the application form from the official website and then required to be submitted to the university. For all other courses, candidates have to visit the admission portal of Anna University. Decisions for procedures like seat allotment, counselling, and fee payment are taken by the Controller of Examination (COE).
- Admission in BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch are based on merit in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) process. This process contains choice locking and final seal allotment.
- Candidates who have obtained a valid rank in NATA exam are eligible to apply for B.Arch program.
- Candidates who want to get admission in ME/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan/ MBA and MCA courses must have to qualify Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). Admission will be based on the counselling procedure of Tamil Nadu Common Admission (TANCA).
- Admission in ME/ M.Tech courses will be based on a valid score in the GATE entrance exam. These candidates do not have to appear in TANCET.
- Candidates have to qualify a separate Entrance Test to get admission M.Sc and M.Phil courses.
- Students seeking admission in Ph.D. programs have to qualify university-based written Test followed by an interview. Students who are UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ SLET/ JRF Teaching Fellowship holders can also apply for admission in Ph.D. courses.

Anna University UG Admission 2019
Anna University provides admission in various courses such as BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch in different disciplines. To get enrolled in any UG course, candidates must have been passed 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For admission in BE/ B.Tech course, Candidates will be selected based on the marks of 10+2 and TNEA counselling procedure. Students seeking admsioon in B.Arch course have t obtain a valid rank in NATA exam.
Eligibility Criteria for UG Courses
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary Examinations) or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as a mandatory subject from a recognized board.
- Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of Vocational stream (Vocational groups in Engineering / Technology) are also eligible to apply for UG Courses in anna university.
Anna University Admission Procedure for UG Courses
Application form for BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch courses are available on the official portal of TNEA. Candidates have to fill the application form online on TNEA portal after the document verification at the TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFCs). Candidate can choose their desired colleges and courses or programmes after paying the initial amount which is INR 500.
For SC/ST/PH candidates have to pay application fee INR 250 and for special reservation, category fess is INR 100. Candidates can pay the application fee amount via Credit/ Debit Card/ Net-Banking or by DD in favor of ‘The Secretary, TNEA Admissions, Anna University payable at Chennai’. Seat allotment procedure decision is taken by the admission authority only.

Anna University PG Admission 2019 in Technical Courses
Anna University provides admission in various ME & M.Tech programs in different disciplines. Candidates must have a BE/ B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline to get admission in ME & M.Tech programs. Students who are Diploma holders with AMIE can also apply for admission in these courses.
Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the valid score of TANCET followed by university-based counselling (TANCA). Students who have obtained a valid score in GATE can also apply in these courses and these candidates are exempted from TANCET exam.
Key Points:
- Students who have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree via distance mode or weekend mode cannot apply for technical courses.
- Anna university also has the provision of admission in the sponsored category. These candidates should have work experience of at least five years in the relevant field from Government Aided Institutions/ Government Organizations and also obtained a valid score in TANCET.
- Candidates have to fill the application form online for ME/ M.Tech courses on TANCA portal and have to pay application fee of INR 500(for reserved categories INR 250). Students who are in TANCET and GATE category have to apply separately.

Anna University PG Admission 2019 in Management Courses
Anna University provides various courses such as M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA, and MCA with regular and lateral entry. Candidates should have a bachelors degree with an aggregate 50% marks(45% marks for SC/ST) to get admission in these courses. Candidates get admission only after qualifying TANCET followed by university-based counseling (TANCA).

Anna University MBA Admission Procedure
- Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the Merit list of the marks obtained in the TANCET 2019 which is an Anna University Mba Entrance Exam 2019.
- If it is found a tie between students those students who got higher marks in pre-final semester/year in the qualifying examination and passed all the subjects to prefinal / semester/year will get higher rank in the merit list.

Anna University PG Admission 2019 in M.Sc & M.Phil Courses
Candidates can get admission in M.Sc & M.Phil courses at PG level which is offered by Anna University. Admission in these courses will be based on the performance of the student in the entrance test which is conducted by the university. The entrance test will be conducted for both of the courses at different centers which are located in Chennai.
Candidates who want to get admission in M.Sc program should have a bachelor’s degree in the same or related discipline. And for admission in M.Phil program students should have a Master’s degree in the same or related field of research.
Candidates who have scored well in academics if their qualifying examinations are only getting admission to the M.Phil. program. Candidates will only be selected on the basis of previous academic record.

Anna University provides admissions in Ph.D. (Full-Time and Part-Time) & MS by Research programs two times in a year. Candidates can get admission in Ph.D. (Full-Time and Part-Time) & MS by Research programs under Centre for Research (CFR) who have a Master’s degree or an M.Phil. Degree in the same or related field.
Candidates who have performed well in the entrance test followed by an interview conducted by the university are shortlisted for the admission in Ph.D. program.
Candidates who have qualified UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET and Teacher Fellowship holder are exempted or do not have to appear in Anna University Written Test. These students only have to qualify the interview round.
